Introduction to Swedish Folk Painting Dalmålning
Learn about the history and cultural significance of the art form, Dalmålning, also known as kurbits painting. It is a distinctive form of Swedish folk art from mid-1700s to the mid-1800s. Dalmålnings are highly decorative and feature imaginative fantasy plants with borders that typically tell a story of daily peasant life, royalty, and religious motifs within local settings. This presentation is perfect for beginners, intermediates, and anyone who identifies as kurbits-curious.

About the Presenter

Renee Vaughan is passionate about traditional Swedish folk arts: music, painting and storytelling. With one foot firmly planted in tradition and the other stepping ahead with care and curiosity, her primary form of expression is the resonant voice of the nyckelharpa, the national folk instrument from Sweden.

No registration necessary, everyone is welcome!
